Event in Chester is open to the public and streaming online

Chester, VA – The Virginia Cannabis Control Authority (CCA) will hold its fifth public town hall meeting in Chester on June 13. The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Chester campus of Brightpoint Community College.

The town hall will provide the public with the opportunity to learn more about the CCA’s mission, roles, and near-term priorities. It will also feature a discussion of current cannabis laws in Virginia and provide the public with a chance to share its perspectives and ask questions about cannabis.

“Sharing clear and credible information about cannabis regulation in the Commonwealth is a CCA priority,” remarked John Keohane, CCA Board Chair and retired Hopewell Police Chief. “The town halls are a great opportunity for providing this type of information to the broader public.”

The Chester event is the fifth in a series of town halls the CCA has held throughout the Commonwealth.

“The other town halls held so far have been productive in introducing the CCA, disseminating much needed information about the rules surrounding cannabis use, possession, and sharing, and hearing from communities,” stated Jeremy Preiss, Acting Head of the CCA and Chief Officer for Regulation, Policy, and External Affairs. “I look forward to another fruitful event in Chester.”

The town hall is open to the public and will also stream live online. Those wishing to speak during the event are encouraged to sign up online. Speakers will be called upon during the town hall in the order they have signed up. All speakers will have a two-minute time limit.

The CCA will host a sixth town hall in Harrisonburg on July 12.
